In his latest Pattern Matching newsletter, OneZero senior writer Will Oremus explains how social media platforms have evolved since the 2016 election. Many platforms have made significant progress — at least at the policy level — but experts interviewed for the story say there’s still work to be done.
“We continue to see a noisy digital media environment that could well mislead many voters,” said Dipayan Ghosh, who has experience both as a technology policy adviser in the Obama administration and working on security and privacy at Facebook, and is now director of the Platform Accountability Project at Harvard’s Kennedy School.
