(L) Jason is a sound engineer, musician, and hip-hop dancer who makes a mean plate of Korean ribs (his mother's recipe). Like many members of the camp, he earned money off of the waste of Silicon Valley workers, scavenging electronics, clothes, and other goods from nearby condo dumpsters and selling them online. (R) James, who grew up in San Diego, California, first experienced homelessness at the age of 10 when his father was transferred to a military base in North Carolina and left his son to sleep in the car. Trey, who was known in the camp for his multicourse meals (all prepared on a camp stove), grew up in Silicon Valley, where he once earned a six-figure salary in sales. March 23, 2021.

Adam grew up in Cupertino, where his mother worked for a semiconductor company and his father worked in construction. The family lost their house after his father died in a car crash; a stint in prison was a further setback, and Adam has been homeless ever since. March 23, 2021.
