SSnorlax-sized news hit the Pokémon world Wednesday: the upcoming Pokémon Sword for the Nintendo Switch will contain a brand-new evolution for Farfetch’d named Sirfetch’d.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield are set to be released on November 15, 2019. As the first core-series games released for the wildly popular Nintendo Switch console and the eighth-generation sequel to the beloved Pokémon main franchise, there’s a lot riding on the two new titles. Among the new region and features added are brand-new Pokémon, including evolutions of preexisting ones. This is the first time that Farfetch’d has had a chance to evolve, and it’s well overdue. No Pokémon deserves to glow up more than this bird, whose thankless existence is proof that the Pokémon gods are as cruel as our own.

Farfetch’d has been waiting patiently for its time to shine, since Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, and it’s always deserved better. For you see, some Pokémon are stronger than Farfetch’d. Some Pokémon are more interesting than Farfetch’d. But none are as endearingly pathetic as Farfetch’d, the duck with no powers that regularly gets eaten.
