A Breakthrough in Coronavirus Research
Hey OneZero readers,
Underlying all our concerns about coronavirus is a single question: What the heck is this thing? You can’t beat a virus if you don’t know it intimately, but samples have been too hard to come by for most scientists to get close.
News that Swiss scientists created synthetic copies of the coronavirus in a lab, however, might have just changed the course of research.

The team didn’t just recreate SARS-CoV-2 but also developed a recipe that labs around the world can reproduce.
The more scientists that can get coronavirus under a microscope, the more information we’ll have on its weaknesses and its strengths — and, one can hope, the faster we’ll beat it.
While I have you, a quick reminder that you can help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and the spread of misinformation: Wash your hands, and fact-check before you retweet.
All best,
